How Should I Start?
Sit or lie comfortably*. If sitting, you may want to set your seat bones on a cushion.
Close your eyes.
Take three deep breaths in order to connect to the moment and deepen within.
Release the control of your breath; simply breathe naturally.
Focus your attention on your nostrils and on the way your chest and abdomen move with each inhalation and exhalation.
*Sitting or lying are recommendations, any comfortable posture which you can ease into is great.
How long should I meditate as a beginner?
If meditation is new to you, begin with 1-3 min. Once you can sit still and relax for that long, sit for 5 min. Once you feel comfortable with that, increase by another two minutes and so on. It really isn’t about the number, only about the opportunity to meet ourselves. Bring softness and patience to your meditation path, you can always open your eyes and close them again - everything counts ;)
Is it OK if I am thinking during the Meditation?
Of course, it is! Thinking is a part of us - a part of the role of our minds. Rather than being disappointed by the thoughts showing up - when realizing you've been caught up by thoughts, pay attention to your response. Whenever you are willing, let go of the thoughts, bring your attention back to your breath.
The skill of Meditation is meant to bring ease and relaxation to your life. The way may confront you with different aspects of yourself. Make your way patiently, step by step. Honor, respect yourself and fulfill your heart with love day by day, no matter what.
