Duration of session: 1 hour
Description: Learn about my “zero to hero” sporting journey, which took me from the couch and put me on the 100m start line at the 2016 Rio Paralympics in the space of just four years.
Discover how I leveraged years of prejudice, discrimination and a lack of self-belief to fulfill an impossible dream.
The session explores the social construct of disability and its role in creating systemic oppression; perpetuated by the inauthenticity and inaccuracy of media representation and its limiting narratives.
We’ll discuss how positive inclusion and representation can create opportunities for your colleagues, customers and communities by giving you an understanding of:
Prejudice and bias
Inaccurate media representation (with examples)
A 10-15 min Q&A will follow to allow you and your team to ask questions.
